🇬🇧 Historically influenced by neighboring Korea, Japanese folk music has evolved over the centuries according to the regions and their own cultural heritage. It is characterized by the use of traditional instruments such as the shamisen, the koto and the shakuhachi flute, as well as by songs and dances that often tell stories of everyday life, nature and local mythology.

Here is a perfect introduction to this repertoire with a selection of classical pieces performed by Yoshiko accompanied by Shinuchi Yuize from the Kabuki Theater on the koto; this emblematic plucked string instrument, and played using ivory or wooden plectrums to play the strings. Recorded and published in France in 1956, these timeless works testify to the refinement of this ancestral register.

🇫🇷 Historiquement influencée par le voisin Coréen, la musique folklorique japonaise a ensuite évolué à travers les siècles en fonction des régionaux et de leurs héritages culturelles propre. Elle est caractérisée par l'utilisation d'instruments traditionnels tels que le shamisen, le koto et la flûte shakuhachi, ainsi que par des chants et des danses qui relatent souvent la vie quotidienne, la nature et la mythologie locale.
